Former Blue Jay Ryan Freel Passes Away

It has been reported that former Toronto Blue Jay Ryan Freel passed away at age 36 — the cause is reportedly suicide.

Freel was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 10th round of the 1995 amateur draft. He played 6 minor league seasons with Toronto before making his debut in 2001. He hit .273, drove in 3 runs and stole 2 bases in 9 games before being granted free agency after the season.

Our condolences to Freel’s family and friends.
