Ticket Sales Up, Discounts Down, Fans Left Out

Amid the overwhelming optimism surrounding the Blue Jays these days, there is a catch.

The cheap seats are shrinking.

With ticket sales up and demand growing, the Jays restricted the sale of their popular “ballpark passes” this year, leaving many fans feeling disgruntled and left out.

Some worry a price hike might be next.

“It really feels like they’re catering to bandwagon fans and don’t care if they upset the ones who have been there cheering for the last two decades of mediocre teams when nobody else could bother,” said Brian Chick, 31, who held a pass for eight seasons before this year.”

    I have no problem - zero zip - with the team ending selling seats for "$1.25 a game..." Obviously, now that the team is "spending" so should the fans. The day's of freebies are over.
